City Wonders · Duomo to Santa Maria delle Grazie

The Duomo and the Last Supper

A City Wonders guide takes a group of 14 at most inside the Duomo, walks you across the centre past La Scala and Sforza Castle, and ends in front of Leonardo's mural at Santa Maria delle Grazie. Book it for the Last Supper slot: the official tickets sell out weeks or months ahead.

Duomo & Last Supper Small-Group Tour

About this experience

This is the tour people book when the official Last Supper site shows nothing but sold-out dates. City Wonders holds the reservation. You give every guest's full name at booking, because the museum issues named tickets, and the guide does the rest. The day starts with about 45 minutes inside the Duomo, then a walk of about 2.4 km through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Piazza della Scala and the Brera streets to Sforza Castle, and on to Santa Maria delle Grazie.

The Last Supper itself gets 15 minutes, the same for everyone: the museum lets in up to 40 people per slot. Your guide talks you through the painting first, so the quarter of an hour goes on looking. Some departures run the other way round, starting at Santa Maria delle Grazie and ending at the Duomo, so check which meeting point your time uses.

Two caveats. The rooftop is not included, and the listing says so plainly; book the terraces separately (the official Duomo Pass Lift is €26) or add the 1-hour rooftop tour on another day. And on Sundays and religious holidays the Duomo can't be visited inside, so you get the exterior and more of the city instead. Bought direct, the Last Supper costs €15 for adults and the Duomo with its museum €10. At $127 you're paying mostly for a slot that would otherwise be gone.

What guests say

★★★★★

Sara was a fantastic guide who gave us lots of information all along our three hour walk around Milan. Definitely worth the price to experience Milan in a day. The 15 mins spent at the Last supper painting went by like a blur.

Great guide who pointed out things we wouldn’t have understood in our own. Tour remained on schedule with a small group. [...] Access to Last Supper was great [...] the tickets were otherwise sold out.

Robert T. · Aug 2025
★★★★★

Well choreographed, ending with a crescendo in the small, intimate room with The Last Supper. The Duomo, La Scala, the castle are all wonderful, but nothing prepares you for that moment when you enter the Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie.

Three full hours cover some of the history and highlights of Milan. Our guide Daniel was informative and engaging. Highly recommended tour for an great overview of the history and sights of Milan.

Tips before you book

  • Type every guest's full name exactly as on their ID. The tickets are named, and a guest reports ID checks at the door.
  • Store suitcases before you start. There's no luggage storage on the way and large bags are refused.
  • Avoid Sundays if the Duomo interior matters to you.
  • Cover shoulders and knees for both churches.
  • Do the rooftop on a separate morning. It takes about an hour, and a combined official ticket is valid on your date and the next day.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Duomo and Last Supper tour include the rooftop?

No. The listing excludes rooftop access. Book the terraces on their own, or join a 1-hour rooftop tour on another day.

How long do you see the Last Supper?

15 minutes, which is the limit for every visitor. Your guide explains the painting before you go in, so the time is spent looking.

What happens if the Duomo is closed on the day?

On Sundays and religious holidays the inside can't be visited, and services sometimes close it at short notice. You get a tour of the exterior and the city centre instead.

Why does the tour cost $127 when the official tickets are about €25?

Because the Last Supper sells out. The official ticket is €15 for adults (€2 for ages 18 to 25, free under 18), released every three months, and good dates go fast. The tour holds slots you can't get otherwise. Our Duomo and Last Supper guide explains the release calendar.
