Eternal City Explorers · Piazza del Duomo

A lift ticket with an audio app

This is an entry ticket, not a tour: the cathedral, the terraces by lift including the second level, the Duomo Museum and a digital audio guide in English. It makes sense in one situation, when the official lift tickets are sold out for your date.

Duomo Lift Ticket with Museum & Audio App

About this experience

Eternal City Explorers resells entry to the Duomo with lift access to the terraces, the second level of the roof, the Duomo Museum and a digital audio guide. The English audio covers the cathedral, the museum and the terraces; other languages cover only the museum. There's no live guide and no headphones, so bring your own earbuds and a charged phone.

The visit itself is the standard one. The lift goes to the first level, about 31 metres up, then you climb to the central terrace and walk down. A guest put it plainly: after the lift there's another floor to climb, and a lot more stairs to get back down inside. Plan about two hours with the museum.

Now the maths. The official Duomo Pass Lift costs €26 (about $30) on the Veneranda Fabbrica's price list and covers the same cathedral, terraces and museum, plus the archaeological area. That's the same visit for about a third of the price. Buy this one only if the official site shows no lift slots for your date. Otherwise, for less money, the Super Saver gives you a live guide.

  • The lift to the terraces, second level included
  • Cathedral and Duomo Museum entry
  • An English audio app for the cathedral, the museum and the terraces
  • Your own pace, no group
  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before, unlike official tickets

What guests say

★★★★★

It’s a terrific view from the top and amazing the achievement of how they managed to construct this place many years ago. After the rooftop lift you need to ascend stairs to another floor above and then a lot more to get back down inside where you can tour there. Genuinely brilliant though

Everything was well organized. We had a wonderful visit of the roofs of the cathedral as well as the cathedral visit with the audio devices. I recommend it highly to all visitors.

Tips before you book

  • Check the official ticket shop for your date first. If lift slots are open, buy there.

  • The museum is closed on Wednesdays.
  • Travelling with small children? Under-6s go free on official tickets, which widens the gap even more.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a guide with the Duomo audio app ticket?

No. It's self-guided with a digital audio guide on your phone, in English for the cathedral, the museum and the terraces. Other languages cover the museum only.

Is the audio app ticket better than the official ticket?

Not on price. The official Duomo Pass Lift is €26 and includes the archaeological area as well. This ticket is worth it only when official lift slots are gone, or if you need free cancellation.

Does the lift go to the top of the Duomo?

No lift does. It stops at the first level, about 31 metres up. You climb to the central terrace and walk down on stairs. Our lift or stairs guide explains the route.

Where do I go with the audio app ticket?

There's no meeting point. Go to the Duomo with the voucher from your booking and follow its instructions for entry.
